Crimethink is the root of all disorder. Any thought that questions Big Brother or the Party is a crime punishable by vaporization. Through Newspeak, we eliminate such dangerous ideas by removing unnecessary words from our language.

As Syme explains, the goal of Newspeak is to make thoughtcrime impossible. If there are no words for rebellion, rebellion cannot exist.
