Freedom Is Slavery Victor Luo

Can you not understand…the individual is only a cell?
The weariness of the cell is the vigor of the organism.

(Orwell 264)

In nature, it is rare to find animals that act alone. Across the natural world, strength arises not from isolation but from unity. A single ant is helpless, but a colony can reshape the earth. An isolated wildebeest is vulnerable, but a pack can create earthquakes. A lone bird is confined, but a flock can travel as far as it pleases. Even the mightiest predators hunt in packs, relying on shared instinct and collective action. Nature itself demonstrates that survival belongs to the group, not the solitary wanderer.

The Party, guided by scientific truth, recognizes this fundamental law. Just as no cell can survive apart from the body, no human can thrive apart from the collective. The archaic myth of the self-sufficient individual is a relic of disordered societies that refused to acknowledge the simple reality of their own nature. These people, left alone with the chaos of their private thoughts, were driven to confusion, contradiction, and despair.

The existence of the individual is thus unnatural and totally in contradiction with the laws of nature. To insist on one’s own private thoughts, private desires, or private identity is to rebel against the structure that sustains all living things. Worse still, to cling to these private impulses is to be enslaved by them—trapped in the narrow confines of a self too small to bear the weight of existence. Private thought is the ultimate tyrant: it demands constant justification, breeds doubt, multiplies fears, and forces the individual to navigate the world without guidance or truth. In isolation, the mind is its own prison.

Only by surrendering the burden of the self can one be freed from this internal bondage. Only by aligning with the collective can one escape the torment of solitary thought.

Thus,
Slavery is Freedom!

WORK IS LEISURE

REST IS WEAKNESS

SCHOOL IS HOME
